Dell SupportAssist is a built-in tool on most Dell machines that can help keep your system running properly by checking for issues, installing updates, and providing automated support.

Many issues, for example slow PC performance, can be resolved by updating drivers via SupportAssist.

To run SupportAssist:

  1. Click the Start menu
  2. Type SupportAssist and click on SupportAssist to open it once found
  3. If prompted to sign in, choose ‘Never remind me’

Once SupportAssist has opened, you will land on a dashboard like this:

To run a system scan:

  1. Click on Full system scan to run a full scan which checks all of the system, including updates and hardware issues
  2. Click Start and wait for the scan to complete

Review and fix issues:

  1. Once the scan finishes, you’ll see a summary
  2. Click “Fix Now” to resolve any problems automatically and follow any prompts if manual action is needed

In case your machine needs to be restarted during the process, it’s best to save all work you have open to prevent data loss, and close any running applications.

To update drivers:

  1. Click Update software
  2. Click Start and wait for the scan to complete
