Microsoft 365 Copilot versus Windows Copilot

There are two versions of Copilot on Windows, and they are not the same:

The Microsoft 365 Copilot app (i) – installed via the Microsoft Store – is a standalone application designed for Microsoft 365 accounts and is the recommended option for business use. It reliably signs in with your work account and can access your emails, files, meetings, and other Microsoft 365 data.

Windows Copilot (ii) - built into Windows 11 – is primarily tied to the Windows primary account on your device, and this can default to a personal Microsoft account on a Windows Home machine. While fine for general questions and basic Windows help, it can behave inconsistently with work data and is not reliable for Microsoft 365.

In short, if you are using Copilot for work, install and use the full Microsoft 365 Copilot desktop app via the Microsoft Store: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9wzdncrd29v9?hl=en-GB&gl=GB
